    Somerset Blackdown Hills Shepard’s Hut

    This week it was my wife Jen’s Birthday, and a couple of weeks before present ideas weren’t forthcoming. Having a Birthday a few weeks after Christmas annually presents gifting challenges and this year was no different. We decided to seek a relaxing night away. Hotels were uninspiring so Jen went in search of something a little different. We settled on a Shepard’s Hut in Somerset as the perfect solution. This came in the form of Dimpsey Shepards Huts in the Blackdown Hills, Somerset.     Porth Kidney Sands, Cornwall

    In October 22 I decided to get up early and to talk a walk down to our local beach from the the place in Cornwall. The beach is Porth Kidney, just a short wander from Lelant, on the St Micheal’s Way pilgrimage. The beach is overlooked by St Uny Church the start point of St Micheal’s way and as such is the only official British start of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela.     The Ridgeway, Oxfordshire

    So… I’ve decided to start a blog and write as often as I can. You might call it a New Year’s resolution… but I don’t do those… I DON’T… honestly! Today is the last day of my Christmas break before back to work. So we decided to blow off the cobwebs with a walk up The Ridgeway, which is a 15 or so minute drive from home. We really should get up there more. It’s open spaces and views over the downs make you feel your miles away from anything, and there are many paths off the main ridgeway to explore.
